University Credit Union doubles down on holiday giving and academic support

Los Angeles, CA (December 3, 2025) |

University Credit Union (UCU) is spreading holiday cheer and supporting academic excellence through expanded community initiatives and partnerships that reflect its mission to serve and uplift.

UCU recently donated $5,000 to UCLA Neuroscience students to help fund travel to the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting in November 2025, ensuring future leaders in science can share their research on a global stage. UCU will also join UCLA’s Annual Neuroscience Day on December 2, celebrating groundbreaking discoveries and the students behind them.

“Our partnerships with institutions like UCLA reflect our commitment to advancing education and supporting the next generation of innovators,” said Megan Eisenhard, Chief Growth Officer. “At the same time, we remain deeply focused on initiatives that bring comfort and joy to families during the holidays. These efforts are at the heart of who we are as an organization.”

The Annual UCLA Children’s Hospital Book Drive is also back, and bigger than ever. UCU has doubled the number of donation bins across the community to meet the growing needs from partners. These donations will help fill the UCU-sponsored Book Cart, bringing stories and smiles to children in care. A book drop-off event will take place on December 17 at 10:30 AM with UCU’s Executive Leadership Team, Staff Assembly, and Board members. Donations will continue to be accepted through December 31.

Elsewhere, For the second year in a row, UCU’s UC San Diego team, alongside partners and staff volunteers, will prepare and serve meals for families who must remain near the hospital during the holidays. This heartfelt effort will support approximately 50 families, ensuring they experience warmth and care during a challenging season.

“Community engagement is more than a seasonal activity, it’s a core value,” said Derek Knowlton, Chief Marketing Officer. “From helping neuroscience students reach their goals to ensuring children have access to books and families have meals during difficult times, we’re proud to stand alongside our partners and staff to make a meaningful impact.”

These initiatives underscore UCU’s unwavering commitment to education, health, and community well-being. Together with our partners and volunteers, we’re creating opportunities, spreading joy, and making a difference where it matters most.
