September 7, 2012 – Madison, WI
– 27 new college students have been awarded scholarships for the 2012-13 school year from UW Credit Union. This past summer, the credit union presented nearly $14,000 in scholarship awards to 27 high school graduates who are attending a UW System school or Madison College this fall. Recipients of the scholarships came from 21 high schools throughout the state, in Dane County, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Stevens Point and Whitewater.

UW Credit Union is a strong supporter of higher education and has multiple initiatives to help students afford the cost of college. The goal of these scholarships is to help hard-working students attend college to achieve their full academic potential. UW Credit Union has been providing high school students with scholarships since 1999, and has donated over $200,000 to students for their higher education needs. “We’re proud to support these dedicated students,” said Jaimes Johnson, Director of Community and Campus Relations at UW Credit Union. “Each recipient was a solid, well-rounded student throughout their high school career. All excelled in the classroom and were committed to community service.”

Recipients of this scholarship were chosen by their high schools. Students interested in applying for a UW Credit Union scholarship in the future can contact their high school guidance counselor for more information.
