UW Credit Union expands its mobile payment options
MADISON, WI (May 2, 2016) — UW Credit Union expanded its mobile payment options on May 2, 2016, offering members access to Android PayTM and Samsung Pay. These services allow members to make payments using their mobile devices instead of a traditional plastic debit or credit card.
“Technological advancements have introduced a variety of payment options, and we know our members are looking for fast, convenient and secure ways to pay,” said David Mickelson, Vice President of Retail Operations at UW Credit Union. “Since launching Apple Pay in 2014, members have activated more than 8,000 cards with that service. Offering Android Pay and Samsung Pay gives even more members an easy way to pay on-the-go.”
All three of UW Credit Union’s mobile wallet options allow members to load their debit and credit card information to their mobile devices. While each service operates a bit differently, once card information is loaded onto a device such as a smartphone, members can make in-store purchases by placing their mobile device near a payment terminal. Each payment service uses tokenization to create a unique code to validate each transaction, which protects members’ card information.
“We’re committed to making our debit and credit cards easy to use and more accessible for our members,” said Rob Van Nevel, SVP & Chief Member Solutions Officer at UW Credit Union. “Convenience, along with added security, makes these mobile wallet options a great choice for our busy members’ everyday payment and banking needs.”
