Vantage West kicks off United Way campaign

CEO Robert D. Ramirez Serving As 2015-2016 United Way Community Campaign Chair

Vantage West Credit Union, southern Arizona’s largest credit union, has kicked off its internal United Way fundraising efforts by donating $10,000 to the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona.

While the regional fundraising campaign doesn’t officially begin until mid-September, Vantage West Credit Union and its employees have already demonstrated their support and enthusiasm for the cause, which is being steered by Vantage West president and CEO Robert D. Ramirez, who is serving as the United Way Community Campaign Chairman for 2015-2016.

“It’s an honor to be asked to lead this campaign,” Ramirez said. “I know I will be able to rely on the committed and generous businesses and organizations in our region – their management, employees and members – to provide support and funds to make this campaign a record year.”

In an effort to lead the charge, Vantage West Credit Union has already held or planned a number of internal fundraisers. The last Friday of every month, Vantage West accepts donations on behalf of United Way from employees who would like to wear jeans to work. That effort raised $1,200 during one Friday in July.

In addition, the company is holding 50/50 raffles at its quarterly employee meetings, it is auctioning off covered parking spaces, and it has placed orange collection buckets in its branches and corporate offices to accept donations from the general public.

The fundraising campaign officially kicks off Sept. 17.
