Ventura County Credit Union celebrates the grand opening of its new headquarters

Credit union honors two emeritus board members through the dedication of its atrium

VENTURA, CA (June 14, 2016) — On May 24, 2016, Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU), a not-for-profit financial institution that serves Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, held a grand opening celebration to showcase its new corporate offices. California Resource Corporation (CRC), which shares VCCU’s new 73,000-square-foot facility as a tenant, cohosted the event.

With live music, food and drinks, the well-attended grand opening began with a ribbon cutting at the building’s main entrance. Following the ceremony, VCCU’s chief administrative officer, Linda Rossi, welcomed guests, who included local media; dignitaries like Ventura County’s executive officer, Mike Powers, and Ventura’s city manager, Mark Watkins; partners of VCCU and CRC; and the employees housed in these administrative offices.

To commemorate the grand opening, speeches were given by CRC’s CEO, Todd Stevens, and VCCU’s president and CEO, Joe Schroeder. In his address, Schroeder touched on the history of the credit union and its modest beginnings under a stairwell in the Ventura County courthouse. Schroeder also spoke on what this new facility means for the credit union and how it will allow VCCU to expand its commitment to the community and its members.

“As a community-chartered credit union, we are extremely proud of our new offices and humbled by the significance of this occasion,” Schroeder said. “We hope that these offices reaffirm our commitment to our members, our love of our community, and our longevity as the largest and oldest financial institution headquartered in Ventura County.”

Additionally, Schroeder’s speech included a dedication of VCCU’s atrium to emeritus board members Bill Frank and Brenda Morris. The open communal atrium, located at the entrance of VCCU’s office, overlooks the Channel Islands and Ventura’s coastline. It was dedicated to Frank and Morris for their collective service of more than 80 years to the credit union, their leadership and their ongoing commitment to Ventura County.

The event also included a time capsule that was filled with notes from party guests and is set to be opened in the future. VCCU’s new corporate headquarters is located at 2575 Vista Del Mar Drive in Ventura. For more information on VCCU, visit www.vccuonline.net.
