Ventura County Credit Union’s (VCCU’s) board chair, Sue Tatangelo, has been honored as part of the Camarillo Health Care District team that received the Rosalynn Carter Leadership in Caregiving Award. The award recognizes outstanding community work in evidence-based programming, public awareness and advocacy on behalf of caregivers in Ventura County.
Tatangelo was acknowledged along with the rest of the Camarillo Health Care District Wellness & Caregiver Center of Ventura County at the 30th Anniversary of the Rosalynn Carter Institute Summit and Gala Awards banquet. At the event, former first lady, Rosalynn Carter, presented recipients with the award. Proceeds from the banquet went directly to supporting, training and educating professional and family caregivers.
The Caregiver Center, for which Tatangelo serves as chief resource officer, is a comprehensive resource for caregivers, providing access to education, training and support in a dignified, respectful setting. The Caregiver Center offers a broad variety of evidence-based educational programs as well as consultation with licensed social workers, support groups, one-on-one coaching programs, classes for building caregiving skills, and a resource library tailored to material on caregiving and chronic disease.
“It is an honor to be a part of this award-winning team,” Tatangelo said. “We believe that the education, resources and support we provide for caregivers has the power to make a life-changing difference, both for them and for their loved one. We’re thrilled to have our efforts recognized, and we plan to continue challenging ourselves to improve our services and achieve even greater outcomes.”
