BURLINGTON, VT (October 17, 2013) -- Bernie Isabelle, President and CEO of Vermont Federal Credit Union, is pleased to have hosted representatives from AELUCOOP.
A group of eight representatives from AELUCOOP, the second largest credit union in Peru, visited Vermont Federal Credit Union during the week of October 7th 2013. The group consisted of representatives from various functional areas of the Peruvian Credit Union who came to learn about the lending, marketing, information systems, operations, human resources, asset/liability management and accounting strategies of Vermont Federal Credit Union.
During their visit, AELUCOOP representatives toured Vermont Federal’s Burlington, South Burlington, and Milton Branches, while also visiting the State House and other local attractions.
The relationship between AELUCOOP and Vermont Federal began in October of 2010 when the two credit union’s signed a World Council of Credit Union’s (WOCCU) international partnership agreement. Upon signing the agreement, Bernie Isabelle stated: “The relationship between AELUCOOP and Vermont Federal is one of the many examples of the collaborative spirit and efforts that have become commonplace in the credit union movement. The information disseminated and the friendships developed have helped us all in our ultimate goal of serving our members.”
Vermont Federal Credit Union representatives traveled to Lima, Peru in October of 2011 to visit AELUCOOP. Jean Giard, SVP of Finance & CFO, attended the trip and explains, “The partnership is about exchanging ideas, best practices and an opportunity to see the credit union movement applied in different cultures.”
Vermont Federal was pleased to have been able to host AELUCOOP, and looks forward to continuing the relationship and sharing future ideas and strategies.
