Welcome Tamara McGovern, vice president of finance at Members First Credit Union

MIDLAND, MI (January 25, 2021) — We’re excited to introduce the newest member of our leadership team, Tamara McGovern, the Vice President of Finance for Members First Credit Union. Tamara is filling the role previously occupied by Chuck Otto.

We’d like to thank Chuck for his dedication to the credit union, our members and our teams. Chuck lead the charge over our Finance Department for 13 years, ensuring that we always remained in a sound and stable financial position. Chuck was passionate about doing what was best for our members and always brought creative ideas to the table of how we could best serve them. While Chuck has transitioned into his retirement, we would like to publically thank and celebrate him for his efforts and dedication to the credit union. We are delighted for Chuck to enter this new phase of his life, and are excited to welcome Tamara to our team.

Tamara officially joined our team in June of last year, transitioning into the Vice President role when Chuck retired on December 31. She brings with her 25 years of experience in the Finance and Banking industry. Previously, she owned an investment advisory company, Briza Capital Advisors, and also served as Principal of Shay Financial Services, Inc. where she focused on asset/liability management and balance sheet strategy. McGovern has been involved with Members First Credit Union and other credit unions her entire career, serving as a consultant helping to make decisions to ensure stability in the companies financials.

Tammy expressed that she’s excited to be a part of Members First Credit Union stating “MFCU is a terrific asset to the community and members, and I’m proud to join a credit union that is focused on serving where we both work and live.” McGovern is very involved in her community and currently serves on both the Investment and Impact Investment Committees for the Midland Area Community Foundation and is a board member and fund development chairperson for Home-to-Stay.

McGovern has been in the Midland area for over 10 years. She is a small business owner, as a not-so-silent partner of Omni Tech International, Ltd., a 36-year-old business in Midland. She lives with her family, their dogs and their tortoise in Sanford, Michigan.
