Wescom, Official Financial Institution of UCLA Athletics and Rose Bowl Stadium
PASADENA, CA (September 2, 2015) — Wescom Credit Union has committed to a major partnership with IMG’s UCLA and Rose Bowl Properties, it was announced today. The partnership, which seeks to build relationships with UCLA student-athletes, fans and alumni, makes Pasadena-based Wescom “The Official Financial Institution of UCLA Athletics” and “The Official Financial Institution of the Rose Bowl Stadium.”
Financial terms of the five-year agreement, brokered by IMG, were not disclosed.
“We are excited to partner with two iconic Southern California organizations. Wescom has a long-standing tradition of collaborative efforts that allow us to build relationships throughout Southern California,” said Darren Williams, Wescom President and CEO. “The partnership with UCLA Athletics and the Rose Bowl Stadium provides an opportunity to offer additional benefits to Wescom members and get the word out about the value Wescom and credit union membership has to offer Southern Californians.”
“Wescom has developed a comprehensive plan in its partnership with UCLA Athletics and the Rose Bowl Stadium to raise awareness of the benefits they provide to Southern California communities, develop relationships with UCLA student-athletes, fans and alumni, increase credit union membership, and give Wescom members the opportunity to benefit from the partnership,” said Paul Engl, General Manager of IMG Los Angeles, which markets sponsorship rights for UCLA and the Rose Bowl Stadium. “We’re excited to bring a host of creative assets to connect Wescom with the more than two million Bruins fans in the LA area and millions more nationwide.”
“The agreement includes a unique opportunity to further the Credit Union’s identity with the Rose Bowl Stadium. The partnership includes Wescom’s support of the Rose Bowl Stadium foundation, Legacy Connections, and as a result the connector road leading to the storied venue has been ceremoniously renamed, “Wescom Way.”
Additionally, Wescom will be developing and managing Financial Literacy programs for UCLA student-athletes. The company’s financial services experts will offer free financial advice and planning.
Other sponsorship elements include: featuring Wescom as the presenting sponsor at UCLA home football games (Bruins versus Cal in 2015 and USC in 2016) and men’s basketball games to be determined; branded Wescom ATMs throughout the Rose Bowl Stadium and Pauley Pavilion which will be fee-free for Wescom cardholders as well as other credit union members through the CO-OP ATM network; use of these facilities for employee and Wescom member events; prominent stadium and arena signage; video board content; a significant football and men’s basketball radio campaign including post-game presenting sponsorship; tickets and hospitality; and presenting sponsorship of The Den, UCLA’s official student group.
As part of its strategy for building relationships with UCLA students, faculty and alumni, Wescom will open a branch in Westwood close to the UCLA Campus.
