WHITEFISH, Mont., July 26, 2011 – Whitefish Credit Union is proud to announce its partnership with Glacier Symphony & Chorale for their 2011-2012 Masterworks season and the upcoming Festival Amadeus, a week-long celebration of the music of Mozart, Beethoven and more in Whitefish, Mont.

Whitefish Credit Union’s donation will help the symphony put on this year’s Festival Amadeus, which begins July 31, and will also benefit children’s musical education through the symphony’s collaboration with the North Valley Music School, a local non-profit music school, said Alan Satterlee, Glacier Symphony & Chorale executive director.

“Whitefish Credit Union has grown to become a major benefactor of the symphony,” explained Satterlee. “They’ve actually geared much of their giving toward our educational programs. During our Masterworks concert series, October to April, the Whitefish Credit Union is one of the benefactors that is underwriting free tickets for high school youths up to grade 12 for all of those concerts, which is really huge. It makes it a lot more affordable for families to enjoy classical music and for music teachers to have their students go and experience live classical music concerts.”

The Credit Union’s donation will also help to underwrite Festival Amadeus ticket costs for all students at North Valley Music School. Additionally, guest artists performing at the festival will teach classes at the school while in town. This marks the festival’s fourth year in Whitefish, where Satterlee expects to see around 2,000 classical music fans in attendance. Festival Amadeus is the only week-long music festival of its kind in Montana and the surrounding states.

“As a member of this community, we’re very proud to support music education and this outstanding cultural event in Whitefish,” said Sue Schenck, Whitefish Credit Union’s business development director. “Festival Amadeus has been enriching all of our lives since 2008. We’re delighted we can help it to continue, while sharing this incredible symphony of ours with students and families across the Flathead Valley.”
