Winona Nava announces retirement as President/CEO of Guadalupe Credit Union

SANTA FE, NM (October 10, 2023)After 32 transformative years leading Guadalupe Credit Union (GCU), President/CEO Winona Nava has announced her retirement, effective at the end of October. Her visionary leadership has been the driving force behind GCU’s exponential growth and the delivery of vital financial services to underserved communities.

Winona’s tenure saw GCU’s assets soar from $10 million to $263 million, serving over 27,000 members across seven counties in Northern New Mexico.

Winona made history as the first New Mexican recipient of the National Credit Union Foundation’s prestigious Herb Wegner Award. This adds to her collection of achievements, including the 2023 James D. Likens WCMS Alumni Recognition Award.

“Winona has not just been a leader but a trailblazer in our industry,” said Linda Medina, GCU’s Board Chair. “She has shown true dedication to financial empowerment, which will continue to impact our communities for years to come.”

“Although I’m happy to move onto a new chapter in my life, I will miss all of you and GCU’s mission of ‘Providing Financial Empowerment in the Communities We Serve.’ I reflect with immense pride on the journey we have undertaken together,” said Winona Nava.
