Warren, MI, March 19, 2012 – With innovation at its core, Affinity Group Credit Union announces the addition of a new branch, OKE Financial, a part of Affinity Group Credit Union during “grand opening” festivities at Juliano’s Restaurant in Warren, MI.

It started with a simple charitable relationship between Affinity Group Credit Union and Operation: Kid Equip. As the relationship has grown, so has the credit union’s dedication to helping teachers and students.

“Teachers are facing school budget cuts, pay and benefit cuts and having to dip into their own pocket for basic classroom needs,” said Glenda West, CEO, Affinity Group Credit Union. “The establishment of OKE Financial says, we understand their situation – we get it – and want to help.”

OKE Financial was established to put money back into teacher pockets by saving them money on their financial services. In addition, OKE Financial will help grow credit union support for Operation: Kid Equip. As teachers become new members and move their loans and financial services to OKE Financial, the credit union will share branch income with Operation: Kid Equip.

“Teachers are also stressed by lack of student supplies in the classroom. The partnership with AGCU will help OKE provide more school supplies, books, hygiene items, clothing and food for kids across metro Detroit who need them the most,” said Menachem Kniespeck, CEO, Operation: Kid Equip. “OKE Financial will create possibilities for students in need. Every transaction will have meaning.”
