World Council Board takes office

World Council presents new members at 2018 WCUC

MADISON, WI (July 17, 2018) — Steven Stapp has been elected the Chair of World Council of Credit Unions Board of Directors. Stapp is President/CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union in Portland, Oregon and formally took office during the World Credit Union Conference General Session on 17 July 2018 in Singapore.

“Although I come from the U.S., I consider myself a global ambassador of credit unions – a servant of the people. World Council and the work of those that have gone before us have brought us together. We must not forget that we drink the water from the well that others have dug, but now is our time to take this work forward,” said Stapp. “The challenge is before us and let us stand together and be counted. We have the world to show that financial cooperatives provide a path for prosperity and independence through a democratic process.”

There were no challenging nominations and all incumbent board members were re-elected for two-year terms.

World Council’s 2018-2019 executive committee is as follows:

Steven Stapp, Chairman – USA

Rafal Matusiak, Vice Chair/Secretary – Poland

Diana Dykstra, Treasurer/Chair, Audit & Risk Management Committee – USA

Martha Durdin, Chair of the Governance and Elections Committee – Canada
