World Council’s Global Women’s Leadership Network celebrates 10 years

GWLN recognizes industry leaders

MADISON, WI (January 11, 2019) — The Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) begins 2019 with its 10-year anniversary announcing record growth and recognizing GWLN champions. The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) premier program was established in 2009 to provide credit union women with the opportunity to network and make a measurable difference in the lives of each other, in the lives of members and within their communities.

Since establishment, GWLN has grown to more than 2600 female and male members with nearly 100 chapters (sister societies) in the U.S. and internationally in 18 countries, has provided 52 scholarships to women from 22 countries, and raised over US $2.5 million to make a measurable difference for credit union families.

“Congratulations to all our volunteers and supporters for the incredible momentum in 2018,” exclaimed Susan Mitchell, Founding Chair of the Network and CEO of Mitchell, Stankovic & Associates and recipient of the 2018 Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement at the recent GWLN strategic planning session with sister society leaders.  “We need to think big in 2019 to grow our membership and build our brand to create scale that will enhance our impact locally and globally.”

During the strategy session, GWLN announced that Andrea Rusnak, VP of Account Management, PSCU is the winner for the 2018 Emerging Leader Award. This award recognizes the accomplishments of an emerging female leader working in the credit union movement, making a significant impact on the industry and advancing the mission of GWLN. The presentation of the award will be at the Global Women’s breakfast event at the 2019 GAC in Washington, DC on March 13, 2019.

Also at the same event, the 10th Year anniversary HE for SHE Recognition will be made to four individuals who have contributed to the network through their leadership and outreach, scholarship development, fundraising initiatives and continuous commitment.
