Quality questions good coworkers should ask each other

In an office environment, whether big or small, collaboration and teamwork is key to organizational success. There are various things you can do to not only be a valuable team member, but to also encourage others in your office to team up and motivate one another. Below are three questions good coworkers should ask each other to encourage and get to know each other better.

Is there anything I can help with?
If you’ve completed your tasks at work and find yourself with free time, reach out to your colleagues and offer assistance. Even if what they do is outside your job description, help in any way you can to demonstrate your willingness to be a team player. Chances are if you assist a colleague with a work task, they’ll be inclined to help you out if you’re in need down the road.

What are you working on?
This question is especially important at larger companies with many staff members and multiple departments. It is easy to get lost in your own day to day duties, but don’t forget that although you work well independently and excel at what you do, there are others around you that are just as vital to meeting company goals. Understanding the different divisions of the organization will make you a more well-rounded teammate. It will also show you are interested in every aspect of the business – a quality superiors admire when selecting employees to promote.

How is your day going?
It’s been said that you don’t have to be best friends with your coworkers. But checking in on others’ well-being goes a long way when it comes to office camaraderie and morale. Take a quick minute to inquire about someone’s day and more than likely your positivity will be reciprocated. Going the extra mile for someone else will make you happier and more engaged at work.
