SAFE FCU raises $18,000 in just two days for Hurricane Florence victims

Other credit union organizations begin collecting funds.

While no one can predict the extent of Hurricane Florence’s devastation, the credit union industry wasted no time to raise funds that will be needed to help disaster victims.

The $1 billion SAFE Federal Credit Union in Sumter, S.C. has already collected more than $18,000, while other credit union organizations such as the Carolinas Foundation of the Carolina Credit Union League and the National Credit Union Foundation are also collecting contributions.

“We saw this as an opportunity to help our members preparing for the coming storm, while also providing financial support for those facing its aftermath in the weeks to come,” said Toby Hayes, SAFE’s vice president of marketing.
