Simple ways to save at the pump

If you’re looking for ways to save money, look no further than your trips to the gas station. Gas isn’t cheap these days, but there are a few ways you can save money every time you go to fill up…

Stop using the same station every time: If there’s a gas station near your house, it’s probably the one you use most often. But considering that there are gas stations all over the place, it might be wise to keep an eye out for cheaper prices on your daily commute. You can also download an app like GasBuddy. Using data from users, it can help you find the cheapest gas around. It may seem like you’re only saving a few cents here and there, but over the course of the year it may turn into a nice wad of cash.

Use the pump at the supermarket: A lot of supermarkets have gas pumps these days, and they can definitely help you save. Your grocery bills can get you a discount on your gas purchases, and you can fill up on your way out of the parking lot, killing two birds with one stone as they say.

Use cash: Some gas stations still charge a few extra cents per gallon for using cards. Save the station from paying swipe fees and save yourself a couple of bucks by keeping cash on hand for your gas purchases. Again, it’s not an instant bucket of savings, but over time you’ll be happy with the results.
