On the subject of subject lines: 7 ways to get more opens

The question comes up dozens of times a week around the YMC office… “What should the subject line be?”

Hundreds of times each month we are tasked with writing something that will connect with members strongly enough that they will pause for a moment in their hectic lives and open the message they just received. 47% of email recipients say they open an email based on the subject line.*

Think about your own inbox. You almost certainly receive your emails – both work and personal – on multiple devices including your phone. How many do you receive each day? 20? 200? How often do you get through all of the messages and either follow up, reply or delete? I will admit, I personally have 1947 in my personal inbox just waiting for me to do something with them. (Yes, that’s my actual notification box you see there, not some zany stock image.)
