Top 5 reasons to attend the Foundation’s Wegner Awards dinner

For the last 29 years, hundreds of credit union professionals have gathered in Washington, D.C. to honor and celebrate outstanding individuals and programs who have made a lasting impact on the credit union movement. The National Credit Union Foundation Dinner Presenting the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards represents the highest honors of the credit union movement, and has become a staple event each year during CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC).

What makes the Wegner Awards Dinner so special? We’ve compiled the top five reasons you should be attending this year’s dinner:

  1. Get inspired by this year’s awardees. You will get to see and hear from some of the industry’s most dedicated leaders in the movement. The Foundation is honored to present two awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement to Stan Hollen, retired President/CEO of CO-OP Financial Services, and Maria Martinez, President/CEO of Border Federal Credit Union. We will also be presenting the Outstanding Program Award to The Cooperative Trust from the Filene Research Institute.
  2. Support your National Credit Union Foundation. By attending this event, you are supporting the Foundation and our critical work helping more credit union members across the country to achieve financial freedom.
  3. Walk the red carpet. Since this is a black-tie affair, the red carpet gets rolled out for all attendees to enjoy! You can get your picture taken on the red carpet, and for the first time ever, Mike Lawson from CUbroadcast will be joining us to live stream the event.
  4. The “who’s who” will be there. The awards dinner is a great chance to mingle with fellow passionate credit union people from all over the United States and across the globe. With over 900 attendees, it’s a great opportunity to meet leaders in the credit union industry.
  5. It’s the “Academy Awards” of the credit union movement. Since this is the premier credit union awards event in the movement, it is sure to be a memorable night full of entertainment. You will leave changed and rejuvenated with passion for the credit union movement.

Tickets and sponsorships are still available for this year’s event! Join on us February 27th at the Marriott Marquis as we honor and celebrate this year’s amazing Wegner Award recipients!
