3 ways to save money on entertainment

These days, there are a million ways to save money. When it comes to entertainment, there are some great savings opportunities if you know where to look. Here are three ways you can start saving on entertainment today.

Stop buying music: I love records. I love being able to play classic music on my record player and hear the warm sound of vinyl. But collecting records isn’t cheap. CDs aren’t cheap either. You know what else isn’t cheap? Digital downloads. If you want to download 15 songs, it’s going to cost you around $15. Why pay a dollar for every song you want to hear? Download Spotify or Apple Music, pay $10 a month for premium service, and listen to as much music as you’d like.

Start sharing: If you’ve wised up and decided to cut the cord on your TV service, you’ve probably saved a lot of money compared to what you were paying for cable or satellite. Want to save even more? Most streaming accounts will let you have multiple profiles and multiple streams. Take advantage of this fact. If you have a friend or family member with a Netflix account, get them to make you a profile of your own. You can pay them back buy sharing your Hulu account.

Find movie loopholes: There are lots of ways to save money if you’re a movie buff. Find out if your local movie theater has a special discount night. If you prefer watching movies at home, see what classics are available at your local library. Why buy or rent a movie when you can check it out for free? If you’re wanting to see something a little more current, use Redbox. You’ll be able to find all the latest releases at a Redbox near you, and Blu-ray rentals are less than two bucks. Sign up for emails from Redbox and they’ll periodically send you codes for free rentals. Nothing wrong with that.
