3 ways to move your career forward in 2021

Who remembers their first paycheck? I bet it was “burning a hole in your pocket”. Those were different times. At some point you started thinking a little more seriously about career goals and what you want to accomplish. If you feel stuck in neutral, here are a few ways you can get moving and get excited about things to come…

Build your brand: If you haven’t given much thought to your personal brand (especially early on in your career), it’s never too late to start. Getting your voice out there is a great way to build your brand. If you’re given the chance to write for a publication or speak at event, go for it! You might be terrified at the thought, but you’ve got it in you. Also remember, social media is a great way to start getting your voice out there to the masses. Even if you only have 67 Twitter followers, you’ve got to start somewhere!

Do some networking: They say it’s all about who you know. You’re never too old to meet people and make connections. Even something as simple as volunteering could open a door that you didn’t know existed. You never know who you’ll meet when you attend networking events, so be open to the possibilities.

Find your passion: If you’re not passionate about your job, it’ll be hard for you to keep going on your current career path. If there are parts of you job you love more than others, figure out if it’s possible to change lanes and stay with your current company. If you’re ready for something new, there’s no time like the present. Following your passions will keep you motivated and excited about going to work every day.
