NAFCU’s Becker and Tyson Offer Budget Tips in Holiday Consumer Media Tour

Washington - As the holiday shopping season kicks off, National Association of Federal Credit Unions President and CEO Fred Becker Jr. and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Karen Tyson are providing tips to promote safe and thrifty spending habits in a series of national radio interviews.

“Credit unions were originally created to promote thrift, and financial literacy remains a vital part of their mission,” said Tyson. “As consumers evaluate their personal finance and spending habits this holiday season, it’s the perfect time for us to offer practical advice for smart shopping as well as tout credit unions as a great partner in helping consumers foster financial prosperity.”

“We’re also pointing people to our CULookup.com website as a useful tool to find a credit union and compare credit union interest rates with those of banks,” she added. “They will find that rates at credit unions are typically better, and that credit unions are overall a better choice.”

Earlier today, Fred Becker participated in two live interviews.  The first ran on the “Daybreak USA” show on the IRN/USA Radio network, which has affiliates nationwide.

Becker was also interviewed live this morning on KFWB-AM, the top news-talk station in the Los Angeles market.

Both interviews can be accessed here.

More interviews will be heard in the weeks to come as they are broadcast by radio stations nationwide. This year’s tour is expected to reach nearly 7 million listeners.
