BMI Federal Credit Union volunteers in support of Children’s Hunger Alliance

Nearly, 400,000 children in Ohio live in a food insecure household. This means they are unsure of when they will have their next meal. In November, BMI Federal Credit Union volunteered with Children’s Hunger Alliance to help fight against this childhood hunger.

Together, BMI Federal Credit Union and Children’s Hunger Alliance packed 3,220 weekend meal boxes, filling just over 16 pallets, and providing a total of 19,320 nutritious meals for kids in need. Their combined effort created an impact of more than $32,220 for children and families in Central Ohio communities!

Children’s Hunger Alliance

Children’s Hunger Alliance’s mission is to ensure that children without access receive healthy food, nutrition education, and physical activity. Children's Hunger Alliance is designed to establish strategic alliances in effort to create long-term solutions for childhood hunger. They live out their mission by sponsoring the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in early childcare settings and afterschool programs, sponsoring the USDA's Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide meals during the summer, advocating to increase participation in the federal School Breakfast Program, and by providing nutrition education and physical activity lessons to school-age children through Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) Kids Club.
