WASHINGTON, DC (December 16, 2025) |
Today, the Defense Credit Union Council, DCUC, sent a letter to House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill and Ranking Member Maxine Waters ahead of the Committee’s December 16–17 full committee markup, outlining DCUC’s priorities and positions on key legislation.
DCUC expressed appreciation for the Committee’s broad focus on housing affordability, regulatory efficiency, competition, and financial system resilience, while suggesting future hearings and markups to prioritize credit union–specific issues critical to military and veteran communities.
DCUC noted priorities including modernizing credit union field-of-membership rules, eliminating the cap on credit union lending to veteran-owned small businesses, and ensuring permanent, meaningful access to the Central Liquidity Facility.
“Modernizing outdated policies will strengthen financial inclusion, competition, and economic resilience, without taxpayer cost,” said Jason Stverak, DCUC Chief Advocacy Officer.
DCUC also voiced strong support for several measures scheduled for markup, including the bipartisan Housing for the 21st Century Act, which aims to expand housing supply and affordability, particularly near military installations. DCUC further supports legislation focused on regulatory efficiency, competition in bank resolutions, consumer privacy, rural finance, and market transparency.
DCUC reaffirmed its commitment to working with Congress to advance policies that strengthen financial readiness for servicemembers, veterans, and the communities that support them.
