Financial Plus Credit Union celebrates new Bay City East branch with  ribbon-cutting ceremony at Historic Former Public Library

FLINT, MI (July 23, 2026) |

Financial Plus Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its Bay City East branch with a  ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, community leaders, members,  and local partners. Located in the historic former Bay City Public Library at 708 Center Avenue in  downtown Bay City, the new branch marks Financial Plus Credit Union's continued investment in the  Great Lakes Bay Region.

"Bay City is an important part of our story, and we're excited to continue growing here," said Brad  Bergmooser, President and CEO of Financial Plus Credit Union. "This new branch allows us to better  serve our members while continuing to invest in the people, businesses, and organizations that make  this community such a great place to call home."

The celebration included a special unveiling of Bay City Central High School's brand-new mascot, made  possible through Financial Plus’s sponsorship. The unveiling reflected Financial Plus Credit Union's  ongoing commitment to supporting local schools and investing in opportunities that strengthen the  community. Principal Justin Shaner, school administrators, and community members joined Financial  Plus in celebrating this exciting milestone for Bay City Central.

"This building already means so much to the Bay City community," said Keri Janowicz-Kern, Branch  Manager of the Bay City East branch. "Since opening our doors, we've already heard so many stories  from members about visiting this building as children when it was a library or spending time here with  their families. Those memories remind us that this has always been a place where people came  together, and we're honored to continue that legacy by helping our members write the next chapter of  their financial journey."

Originally constructed in 1922 through funding from the Carnegie Foundation, the building served as the  Bay City Public Library for generations before being transformed into Financial Plus Credit Union's  newest branch.

The Bay City East branch is the first of five new Financial Plus locations planned as part of the credit  union's continued growth across Michigan, further expanding access to convenient, relationship-based  financial services for communities across the state.
