550 jackets donated to children across the Borderland: Raiz Federal Credit Union partners with Underserved Communities Foundation to bring warmth for the holidays

El Paso, TX (December 16, 2025) |

For many families, rising costs continue to make it difficult to meet essential needs. A warm jacket can provide a child with a sense of security, dignity, and confidence as they head to school and start a new season. The Jackets for Kids initiative, led by the Underserved Communities Foundation, set out to do just that.

Thanks to the efforts of Raiz Federal Credit Union employees, enough funds were raised to provide 245 warm jackets to students throughout the Borderland. With the help of additional UCF partners and donors, the nonprofit ensured that 550 children from pre-K through high school were provided with jackets to keep them warm this holiday and winter season.

Max Villaronga, President and CEO of Raiz and Chairperson of the Underserved Communities Foundation Board, expressed his admiration for the employees’ continual efforts to surpass fundraising goals for the community. He highlighted how the team’s generosity embodies the credit unions' longstanding philosophy.

Underserved Communities Foundation Executive Director, Diana Hastings agrees. “The Raiz teams exemplify the ‘people helping people’ philosophy, uniting through the UCF Jackets for Kids fundraising campaign to raise nearly $5,000 and joyfully volunteering during deliveries—sharing smiles, high-fives, and kindness with children and youth of all ages.”

This year’s achievement highlights Raiz’s ongoing dedication to education, empowerment, and ensuring every child feels safe and supported. As Raiz maintains its partnership with the UCF, the credit union stays committed to supporting programs that uplift families and create brighter futures throughout El Paso and beyond.
