Athens, GA (June 25, 2026) |
Selected by vote of his classmates, Justin Callaway of Marshland Credit Union, based in Brunswick, GA, has been named the 2026 Hugh Watson Award recipient by Southeastern Regional Credit Union School (SRCUS). Callaway accepted the honor June 19 during this year’s session of the Southeast Management School in Athens, GA.
The peer-selected award recognizes a third-year student whose contributions to the class throughout all three years of the program reflect leadership, excellence and a commitment to the collaborative learning experience at SRCUS.
Reflecting on being named this year’s award recipient, Callaway says: “It’s not often that I’m left speechless, just ask anyone who has known me for more than five minutes, but in that moment, I truly was. This recognition means so much because it was my friends, these superb credit union leaders I look up to in so many ways, who made the selection. I still find it hard to put into words the impact that SRCUS and all my fellow graduates have had on my life over these last few years. Their drive, commitment to lifelong learning and unwavering support for one another inspired me and made me a better credit union professional and person. I am also truly grateful to Marshland and my CEO, Mary Jenrette, for the support and guidance throughout this journey.”
Callaway currently serves as senior vice president of finance at Marshland CU. Since joining the team in 2024, he has held roles including comptroller and vice president of finance, working closely with the chief financial officer to inform financial strategy and support the organization’s financial stability.
SRCUS established the Hugh Watson Award in 2015 to honor a third-year student who demonstrates the leadership and excellence associated with the award’s namesake. Watson joined the SRCUS faculty in 1971 and, over more than four decades, taught in all three years of the program, served as academic coordinator, and facilitated the third-year simulation.
