LAFCU celebrates opening of Perry location, expands local banking access

New drive-thru reflects credit union’s continued investment in community and member convenience

LANSING, MI (July 13, 2026) |

LAFCU marked the opening of its new Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) location in Perry recently with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Located at 2800 W. Lansing Road, the new two-lane drive-thru ITM is now open for business, giving members and local residents expanded access to secure, convenient banking services.

An ITM combines the convenience of an ATM with the personal service of a live teller. Members can complete many in-branch transactions — including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments and account inquiries — through a secure video connection with a remote LAFCU teller during business hours. They will also have access to ATM services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Speaking at the ribbon-cutting were Perry Mayor Sue Hammond; Jordan Hankwitz, president and CEO of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce; Lori Haven, Perry Public Schools superintendent; Randy Freeman, LAFCU board president; Patrick Spyke, LAFCU CEO; and Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, LAFCU chief marketing officer and chief diversity officer.

"When we introduced ITMs in Michigan more than a decade ago, we didn't know what the future would hold," said Patrick Spyke, LAFCU CEO. "Today, we're proud to continue expanding that vision by bringing convenient, personal banking to Perry. This investment is about more than technology — it's about investing in people, strengthening communities and living out the credit union philosophy of people helping people."

The Perry location marks LAFCU’s first permanent presence in the community since relocating from Carl’s Supermarket and reflects the credit union’s continued investment in improving access to financial services across mid-Michigan.

Nearly 2,200 LAFCU members live across Perry, Laingsburg, Durand and Morrice, including nearly 800 in Perry alone, underscoring the need for accessible local banking options.

Jordan Hankwitz, president and CEO of the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce, said the new location demonstrates LAFCU's commitment to the region.

"We're honored to celebrate our partnership with LAFCU and the investment they're making not only in Perry, but across Shiawassee County and beyond," Hankwitz said. "We're excited to help tell that story and celebrate the positive impact this investment will have throughout the region."

Perry Mayor Sue Hammond welcomed LAFCU's permanent presence in the community.

"We're delighted and excited to have LAFCU right here in Perry," Hammond said.

The Perry site expands LAFCU’s network of ITM/ATM locations across mid-Michigan, helping the credit union meet members where they are while supporting local economic growth and community connection.
