ARLINGTON, VA (July 15, 2026) |
The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Salvador Cruz, Director of the Idaho Department of Finance, to a one-year position on the NASCUS Regulator Board.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Chair’s appointed Board seat,” commented Cruz. “This opportunity truly means a lot to me, and I’m grateful for the chance to work alongside such an impressive group of leaders. I’m excited to bring my passion and perspective to the table as we continue strengthening and supporting the state credit union system together.”
Cruz brings more than 27 years of experience in banking and financial oversight, including more than two decades in federal and state regulatory supervision. As Director of the Idaho Department of Finance, he leads the Department’s oversight of 15 industries, including Idaho-chartered banks and credit unions, and helps guide policy affecting the state’s financial landscape.
“Salvador’s experience and leadership will strengthen our focus on the priorities most important to the credit union system,” said NASCUS President and CEO Brian Knight. “His collaborative approach and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships will be valuable as we address the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
Before joining the Idaho Department of Finance, Cruz served as a National Bank Examiner with the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where he led supervisory teams during the financial crisis. He has also helped guide institutional mergers and charter approvals and worked with legislators, boards, and industry leaders on state and federal policy matters. Additionally, Cruz holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from South Dakota State University.
