Veridian Credit Union expands annual, public display of local student art

ANKENY, IA (December 27, 2013) -- Veridian Credit Union will host its annual ArtShare Premiere on Thursday, January 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at its branch at 1201 S. Ankeny Blvd. in Ankeny, Iowa. The ArtShare program features an annual collection of art created by local high school students. Each piece is submitted by area art teachers and professionally framed or prepared for public display in the Veridian branch. The ArtShare Premiere is an unveiling of the 2014 collection, which will remain on display through December.

Veridian partners with schools throughout their field of membership to coordinate ArtShare displays. This year, Veridian expanded the program in Ankeny to include Ankeny Centennial High School and Ankeny Christian Academy.

“ArtShare gives us a chance to recognize and celebrate the talents of local student artists,” said Shelly McGill, Veridian’s Central Iowa Regional Manager. “By displaying the art on our branch walls, we’re giving the students a public forum and sharing our appreciation of their work with our members.”

More than 40 original works of art created by students from by Ankeny High School, Ankeny Centennial High School and Ankeny Christian Academy are currently on display at the Veridian branch. Mediums range from digital photography and graphic design to paintings and pottery.

The ArtShare Premiere in Ankeny is held in conjunction with the Ankeny Chamber’s January Business After Hours event. The public is also invited to attend this free event, where hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. A preview of the collection will be posted to Veridian’s Facebook page prior to the premiere, and the featured artists are encouraged to tweet about their involvement in the ArtShare program using the #myArtShare hashtag.
