(January 21, 2014) -- The Credit Union Association of New Mexico Board of Directors has announced the selection of Paul B. Stull as its new chief executive officer. Stull will replace Sylvia Lyon, who is retiring. She joined CUANM in 1994 and became CEO in 2003.
With 25 years of financial services executive leadership, Stull is experienced in strategy development and political advocacy. He has spent the past seven years with Arizona State Credit Union in Phoenix where he served as senior vice president of Strategy and Brand, overseeing corporate strategy and planning, product management, and marketing.
"I am proud to be selected to lead a strong group of credit unions in New Mexico. One third of all New Mexico residents are credit union members, so leveraging that strength and the cooperative power of our credit unions is at the top of my agenda. New Mexico is a state that exemplifies the American spirit of independence, and its credit unions are a symbol of that spirit. I look forward to speaking up and speaking out on issues that impact them and their members,” Stull said.
Stull is active in credit union industry political advocacy programs on both state and national levels. He has played a role in the Coalition for Credit Union Access, a ballot initiative to defeat payday lending in Arizona. He was named Arizona Political Advocate of the Year in 2010. Stull is a director of the OneAZ Community Foundation and has served on the Marketing Association of Credit Unions Board of Directors. He has spoken before a variety of league and industry groups.
He is a graduate of the Oxford Strategic Leadership Program and received his undergraduate degree from Elmira College. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the American Advertising Federation and has been honored with over 80 national marketing, communications and branding awards in the past three years.
