RIVERSIDE, CA (April 17, 2014) -- Long-time Altura Credit Union Board Member Ofelia Valdez-Yeager was recently named a “Champion for Justice” by the Riverside County Fair Housing Council. She was among seven community activists honored for their commitment to community.
Professionally, Valdez-Yeager was the first Latina on the Riverside Unified School District Board. She is a former assistant to the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools.
Valdez-Yeager is currently vice chairman of Altura’sboard. In addition, she is president of the Latino Network. Founded in 1993, this nonprofit organization focuses onissues impacting the Latino community of Riverside.
The Riverside County Fair Housing Council is a non-profit, HUD-approved organization that fights to protect the housing rights of all individuals.
