KALAMAZOO, MI (May 9, 2014) -- Consumers Credit Union is honored to have received an Elite Award at the annual West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For luncheon held May 8. The credit union received recognition in the category of Compensation, Benefits and Employee Solutions.
Elite Award recipients demonstrate unique and creative thought processes with support from senior management and policy makers. In addition, they search for above-average programs, services, and solutions for employees given their work environment. The Compensation, Benefits and Employee Solutions category takes into consideration the provided compensation and benefits relative to comparable organizations, as well as the ability to provide unique, creative and customized solutions to employees.
Shawn Premer, Vice President of Human Resources, says, “We value each and every one of our employees and focus on providing compensation that recognizes the important role staff play in the long-term success of the credit union.” The credit union’s Stakeholders Program treats employees like owners, so they will think and act like owners. This performance-based approach provides line of sight between the day-to-day activities of staff and the credit union’s overall strategic objectives. Premer adds, “We succeed when our employees succeed, and we are pleased to be able to compensate them accordingly.”
Additional benefits promote employee wellness, both in and out of the office. These benefits include a generous PTO program, 401(k) match, affordable health and dental insurance, health club discounts, and cash incentives for participating in wellness activities such as health screenings and wellness coaching.
This is the eighth year that Consumers Credit Union has made the list of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest. In 2013, the credit union received an Elite Award in the category of Work-Life Balance and was named a National Best and Brightest Company to Work For.
