Carolinas Credit Union Foundation announces winners for first annual individual and partner in Philanthropy Awards

KERNERSVILLE, NC (May 12, 2014) – The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation has announced the winners for the First Annual Individual and Partner in Philanthropy Awards. The awards will be presented at the CCUF Awards Gala on Friday, May 30 in conjunction with the Carolinas Credit Union League Annual Meeting.

The Carolinas Credit Union Foundation is proud to have been given the responsibility of taking over the Awards programs from the former North Carolina and South Carolina Credit Union Leagues. The Foundation will award four individuals and one business partner with Individual Achievement and Partner in Philanthropy Awards.

“We’re especially excited about the new Partner in Philanthropy Award,” says CCUF President/CEO John P. McGrail. “Basically we want to highlight and recognize a business partner that makes their philanthropic practices a regular part of their overall operations. We are proud of all of our winners. North and South Carolina are full of exceptional credit union people and organizations.”

The Foundation’s Award winners are as follows:

Individual Professional Achievement – David Brehmer, First Carolina Corporate Credit Union’s President and CEO

Individual Volunteer Achievement – Travis Walters, Sonoco Products Company Credit Union Board Chairman

Lifetime Professional Achievement – John Carlson, Sharonview Federal Credit Union Retired President and CEO

Lifetime Volunteer Achievement – George Price, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union Board of Directors Vice Chair

Partner in Philanthropy – CUNA Mutual Group
