People’s Credit Union sponsors Newport Gulls in fanatic about reading program

FANatic About Reading Program offers students the chance to be read a story by a Newport Gull Player!

 -- People’s Credit Union has partnered with the Newport Gulls to provide entertaining and educational experiences for the children of Newport County’s Elementary Schools.

Throughout the beginning of June, the Newport Gulls team players have been visiting elementary schools and reading stories to the classrooms.  This week, the Gulls visited Aquidneck Elementary School, Portsmouth Middle School, and Hathaway Elementary School where they read to over 15 classrooms “Curious George at the Baseball Game”.

“I am very proud and humbled by the success of the FANantic About Reading program.  Together we have read to more than 15,000 students in the last 5 years while approximately 750 students have successfully completed the summer reading program ,” said Chuck Paiva, General Manager, Newport Gulls.  “Our partnership with People’s Credit Union in support of the FANatic About Reading has had a lasting impression and has made a difference in many young lives on Aquidneck Island.  This wonderful program promotes literacy and education and is something our players look forward to every summer,” continued Chuck Paiva.
