Recognized for its partnership with local charitable causes, and improving communities across the state, Affinity Plus was honored in Washington D.C. with national award.
ST. PAUL, MINN. (June 20, 2014) -- Affinity Plus was recently honored at the Jefferson Awards National Ceremony held in Washington D.C. on June 17. Over the past 42 years, the Jefferson Awards has recognized over 50,000 individuals and organizations that inspire volunteerism and public service in workplaces and communities. Affinity Plus is the proud recipient of the “Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award Benefitting Local Communities” for their efforts to give back to local communities throughout Minnesota.
Affinity Plus was honored with this award for their efforts to give back to our communities. Some examples of this include their “Charity of Choice” relationships with Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of MN, Second Harvest Heartland, Special Olympics Minnesota, American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region, and the Affinity Plus Foundation. Additionally, Affinity Plus orchestrates a statewide “Plus It Forward Day”, with the next event to be held on October 13, 2014. All employees, members, and people in the communities are invited to join Affinity Plus in their efforts to spread intentional acts of kindness through volunteerism.
“We’re incredibly honored to receive this award as it truly represents our cooperative commitment to giving back,” states Dave Larson, Affinity Plus President and CEO. “This award wouldn’t have been possible without the support and participation of our employees and members. We would also like to acknowledge Children’s Hospital for nominating us for this honor at the state level, which then allowed us to be recognized at the national level. Additionally, thank you to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal for recognizing and highlighting our efforts.”
The Jefferson Awards was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Sen. Robert Taft Jr., and Sam Beard, founder and chairman of the National Development Council, to honor community service.
