WARMINSTER, PA (July 9, 2014) -- With the retirement of Lee T. MacMinn on July 4, 2014, Freedom Credit Union has announced John F. In 1999, Mr. King participated in the largest merger of equal Credit Unions when Freedom Credit Union and Educational Credit Union merged.  Today, Freedom serves over 62,000 Members and has $650 million in assets.

Mr. King received an Associate’s Degree from Bucks County Community College and his Undergraduate and Graduate degree from the Philadelphia College of Textile and Science, now Philadelphia University.  Mr. King’s many accomplishments include being named the State of PA’s Credit Union Professional of the Year and recipient of The Philadelphia Chapter of Credit Unions Brownie Award.  He served on the board of the Delaware Valley Credit Union Executive Society and was the President and Treasurer of the Philadelphia Chapter of Credit Unions.  He was also the Chairman of Grants Committee and Treasurer of the PA Credit Union Foundation.

Mr. King’s primary goal as the new President/CEO of Freedom Credit Union is to continue in the cooperative spirit of “People Helping People.”

“We, as Members, work cooperatively to help improve the financial lives of other Members.  It’s a motto that I’ve followed for my entire career and will continue to focus on as I take on my new role at Freedom.”

Joseph Yerkes, Chairman, Board of Directors at Freedom, added, “We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and strong leader in John. I am confident John and his team will keep the credit union movement very much alive and Freedom on the leading edge of innovation.  We are very excited to have him in his new role.”
