KALAMAZOO, MI (August 13, 2014) -- Honor Credit Union will host a Community Shred Day on Saturday, August 23 from 9 am to Noon at their Kalamazoo office. Both Honor members and non-members are invited to bring their confidential documents to the Kalamazoo branch location to be safely and securely shredded and then recycled, for free! The office is located at 5713 Venture Park, just west of 11th Street off of Stadium Drive.
In addition to safely destroying your confidential papers, 107.7 WRKR The Rocker will also be broadcasting live from Honor’s Kalamazoo branch with the Rocker Classic Car, a 1969 Pontiac Le Mans! You can swing by, enjoy some snacks, get your confidential papers shredded for free, AND register to win the classic car all at the same time! Now that is one productive Saturday morning!
As with all seven Community Shred Days that Honor Credit Union has scheduled in 2014, the Kalamazoo Shred Day is open to the entire community. So far in 2014, over 19,000 lbs. of paper have been shredded and recycled at these shred days! Honor is challenging the Kalamazoo community to bring 6,000 lbs of paper, pushing the total to over 25,000 lbs! Kent Record Management, a document destruction company, will be shredding on site. As part of Honor’s e-Solutions Strategy to go paperless, all shred collected is securely recycled. Participants are asked to bring a maximum of 10 boxes to be shredded. There is no need to sign up in advance. In addition to confidential papers, community members can also bring in old or used cell phones to be recycled through the Cell Phones For Soldiers program. Each phone donated contributes to providing soliders with pre-paid international calling cards.
