COLUMBIA, SC and RALEIGH, NC (August 26, 2014) -- Six regional chapters of credit unions across the Carolinas have selected their respective candidates for the 2014 CUaware Protégé Competition, recognizing emerging professionals and supporting the employment and membership opportunities credit unions provide. The six finalists will vie for selection as the dual-state Protégé finalist on Friday, September 5 at the CCUL Leadership Conference in Pinehurst, N.C. (http://www.carolinasleague.org/event/leadership).
Chapter winners in 2014 are:
Corey Pace (South Carolina Federal Credit Union), representing the Charleston Area Chapter; Hannah McGee (Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union), representing the Columbia Chapter; Jon Hamby (Members Credit Union), representing the Northwest Chapter; Joshua McKenny (Health Facilities Federal Credit Union), representing the Pee Dee Chapter; Jenn Moore (Local Government Federal Credit Union), representing the Tarheel Chapter; and Micah Smith (SC Telco Federal Credit Union), representing the Upstate Chapter.
Chapter candidates were judged on credit union knowledge, communication skills, personality, and professional appearance. Each candidate has completed a standardized exam and has chosen a presentation topic from a league-approved list that includes credit union philosophy, economics, viability, activism, and promotion.
“This is our first year of the expanded two-state program, formerly known as the Palmetto Protégé Competition in South Carolina,” said CCUL President/CEO John Radebaugh. “It’s encouraging to see a matched enthusiasm from credit union chapters in both states, and I look forward to the continued growth of this competition.”
