MADISON, WI (September 25, 2014) -- CUES mourns the passing of past staffer, Franck Schuurmans, Ph.D., who led the executive education and training function for CUES from 1997 to 2002. During this time he helped build and grow a world-class learning environment for credit union executives at such prestigious institutions as The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University; Darden School of Business, University of Virginia; and London Business School.
Before joining CUES, Schuurmans received his MA from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. And as a Fulbright Fellowship recipient, he earned his doctorate in modern European history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Schuurmans was a prolific author and lecturer to the industry for nearly two decades. He wrote dozens of reports dealing with future industry scenarios and other strategic issues for several organizations, including the Filene Research Institute. Schuurmans was known as an entertaining, effective lecturer to groups across the globe where he was able to share his keen intellect and sharp wit. His work with credit unions continued at his final employer Decision Strategies International, where he worked from 2002 until 2014.
“Franck was a leader and visionary. Although I did not get a chance to work with him during his tenure at CUES, his legacy is very much alive today with over 160 credit union executives per year attending programs Franck helped architect,” said Chuck Fagan, CUES president/CEO.
Schuurmans will be missed.
CUES( http://www.cues.org) is a Madison, Wisconsin-based, independent, not-for-profit, international membership association for credit union executives. CUES’ mission is to educate and develop credit union CEOs, directors and future leaders.
