MADISON, WI (November 7, 2014) -- UW Credit Union is partnering with Apple to give its credit and debit cardholders access to Apple Pay. The service allows members to make payments at merchants by using an iPhone instead of a traditional plastic card.
“We know that our members are busy and want banking solutions that save them time,” said David Mickelson, UW Credit Union’s Vice President of Retail Delivery Operations. “Providing Apple Pay is one more way we give our members access to the latest technology to make banking even easier.”
With Apple Pay, members upload their card information to an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch. To check out, they simply hold the iPhone 6 near participating merchants’ card readers while pressing Touch ID, completing the transaction. Credit and debit card numbers aren’t stored on the device or on Apple servers, making transactions safe and secure.
“Apple Pay has the potential to revolutionize the way people make purchases,” said Rob Van Nevel, Senior Vice President & Chief Member Solutions Officer of UW Credit Union. “We’re committed to making our cards easy to use and more accessible for our members.”
Currently, more than 50 percent of UW Credit Union’s mobile banking logins come from iPhones. Apple Pay will be available to the credit unions’ members sometime in December.
