HARRISONBURG, VA (November 12, 2014) -- Park View Federal Credit Union will live out its heritage of “Neighbors Serving Neighbors” by observing Veteran’s Day in active service to the community. PVFCU has roots in the Anabaptist community, which has a long heritage of serving others in the name of Christ. To show their appreciation to many who have served the community, country and world, they are hosting a Community Connection service day on November 11.
PVFCU employees, along with employees from some member businesses will be serving together around the community at the following locations: Gift & Thrift, Our Community Place, Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic, Highland Retreat, Family Life Resource Center, Eastern Mennonite School, First Step, Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Tried and True, Community Preschool, and Patchwork Pantry.
This is the second year that PVFCU employees have served the community on Veteran’s Day, however it’s the first year they opened up the invitation to employees of other local businesses who utilize the services of PVFCU for their banking needs. “We’re looking forward to serving together alongside some of our members this year,” said John Beiler, President and CEO. “We hope that our Community Connection continues to expand, with more employees from member businesses participating each year.”
The group of volunteers will meet together in the morning at PVFCU’s Harmony Square branch for a send-off before disbursing to their service locations. Eastern Mennonite University, Western Associates, Design Concrete Builders, and Friendly City Food Co-op are some of PVFCU’s partner organizations participating as Community Connection sponsors. “We are grateful for the partnership and assistance of our generous sponsors to help make this event possible and a memorable experience for the participants,” said Lisa Lehman, Marketing Manager. “We’re thankful to be working with these local businesses who also value the importance of serving and giving back to the community.”
