MANVILLE, NJ (December 5, 2014) — Police say two men in ski masks held up the Manville Area Federal Credit Union Wednesday, one jumping over a counter and announcing the robbery as the other acted as a lookout.
At about 1:38 p.m., two males — both of medium height and build, wearing dark clothing that included hooded sweatshirts and ski masks — entered the credit union through its front entrance on South Main Street, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald and Manville Borough Chief of Police Mark Peltack said in a joint statement.
After one jumped over the counter, they robbed tellers of an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot out the door, crossing over on South Main Street and continuing to run to South Street, according to the statement.
The two didn't show any weapons, and no injuries were reported, according to the announcement.
Authorities are looking to the public for assistance, asking if anyone saw two men loitering in the area of the credit union around the time of the robbery. The two may have fled in a vehicle parked on South Street, Soriano said.
Information can be submitted anonymously through the Somerset County Crime Stoppers’ Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477) or online.
