KOHLER, WI (December 29, 2014) -- Kohler Credit Union recently awarded a $200 VISA gift card to Derrick Grimm for his winning logo design that incorporated both the credit union and Howards Grove High School logos. Kohler Credit Union held a design contest, open to students of Howards Grove High School’s graphic design class, for the creation of a new logo that would represent the credit union’s school branch within Howards Grove High School.
The contest required students to design a logo that reflected the partnership between Kohler Credit Union and Howards Grove High School, and incorporated both the school’s and credit union’s logos. Grimm’s design was chosen among multiple other entries. His logo will be displayed above the school branch at Howards Grove High School as well as in other marketing materials.
“At Howards Grove High School we are very excited about our partnership with Kohler Credit Union. Having the school branch on our campus allows our students to get practical financial experience both at school and at the local branch. In addition, the staff at Kohler Credit Union has worked with our students and staff in our graphic design class to help them use their school experience to develop relevant, practical and real world skills,” said Scott Fritz, principal at Howards Grove High School.
The Howards Grove High School Branch is the fourth school-based financial literacy program for Kohler Credit Union; with a branch at South High School, North High School and Central High School in Sheboygan. These programs provide learning opportunities through the employment of students and contests like the logo contest that get a variety of students involved.
Kohler Credit Union is a $285 million not-for-profit, financial cooperative, owned and governed by its members. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Sheboygan, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington or Waukesha County; as well as their immediate family members and associations or organizations.
