ST. JOSEPH, MI (April 1, 2015) -- United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) will partner with Michigan Blood to host a blood drive on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the credit union’s Buchanan branch, 808 E Front St., Buchanan, Michigan.
“UFCU supports worthy ventures in every community it serves,” said Buchanan Branch Manager Chris Fleck.“When you give blood you are literally providing a life-saving service to the community. Nothing is more important that.”
More than 4.5 million patients need blood transfusions each year in the US and Canada. According to theNational Blood Collection and Utilization Survey Report, about 37 out of every 100 Americans are eligible to donate blood – but only 3 to 4 people actually donate each year.
Any healthy person 17 or older who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate. Sixteen-year-olds may give blood with parent/guardian permission. Donors will be scheduled in 15-minute increments. Appointments are recommended.
