TFCU holds Financial Literacy Fair for Franklin HS students

TFCU, one of the largest local federal credit unions in the greater El Paso metropolitan area, held a special Financial Literacy Fair for students and parents at Franklin High School on January 17, 2019. The fair, a partnership between TFCU and Franklin staff, provided valuable financial literacy information and resources to the Franklin community.

Financial professionals from TFCU taught students and parents, the importance of budgeting, key things to keep in mind when applying for student loans, and how to build credit. A demo of TFCU’s online financial gaming tool, powered by the award-winning “Banzai!” program, was also presented during the fair. TFCU staff was at hand to go over the subjects at various booths, as well as answer any questions from attendees on how to get started with responsible financial management.

“Financial education is a part of our mission at TFCU, so it was great to be able to organize this fair for the students and parents of Franklin High School. There was a lot of engagement from the attendees who enjoyed the interactive format in which we presented the information. We wanted to show students and parents, that financial
literacy can be rewarding, and I think we definitely accomplished that. We hope to continue partnering with schools and offer students and parents the opportunity to learn financial skills at future TFCU Financial Literacy fairs,” said Alejandro Yu, TFCU’s Marketing and Public Relations Manager.
