Roger Heacock recently received at the Credit Union House in Washington, DC

Each year, the Credit Union House in Washington, DC honors impactful credit union professionals with the “Hall of Leaders” recognition. This is a unique and special designation that pays tribute to those who have made a significant impact on the credit union movement at the local, state, or national level.

The Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) is very pleased to announce that on Sunday, March 10th, Roger Heacock, President/CEO of Black Hills FCU (Rapid City, SD) received this honor during an award presentation held at the Credit Union House. Jeff Olson, President/CEO of CUAD presented the award.

“Roger Heacock is the first credit union leader from the Dakotas to receive this prestigious recognition, and I can’t think of any individual more deserving,” said Olson. “Roger has been a dedicated and tireless advocate for credit unions in the Dakotas and all across the country. Always true to the cooperative principles and to the credit union difference, his work to advance the industry has made a direct impact on South Dakota’s communities and families by ensuring they will always have access to affordable financial services.”

CUAD nominated Roger to be included in the Hall of Leaders in appreciation for his many contributions in the Dakota region and for his national leadership while serving on the board of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for the past six years. He is just finishing his second and final term as a CUNA Director and also serves as the Chair of the CUNA Strategic Services (CSS) board of directors.

Over the years, Roger has represented the credit union industry by testifying on CUNA’s behalf before the House of Representative’s Small Business Committee. He has served on CUNA’s Field of Membership (FOM) Task Force, Governmental Affairs Committee, and was the Community Credit Union Committee Chair. He served on the National Association of Community Credit Unions (NACCU) Board for five years, the South Dakota Credit Union League Board for 26 years, and the South Dakota Credit Union League Services Corporate Board for more than 20 years.

Roger Heacock now joins other inductees of the Hall of Leaders, whose names are permanently and prominently displayed on the second floor of Credit Union House. The Hall of Leaders is viewed by all who visit the facility, including members of Congress, credit union leaders, industry advocates, and thousands of annual visitors.
