The 9th annual Walk Home 5K Benefit Walk for the Homeless will be on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 10 am (rain or shine), at three locations—Danvers Rail Trail, Dorchester Park and Waltham Common.
Funds are collected by RTN GoodWorks Foundation and donated to help homeless teens and families in Danvers, Dorchester and Waltham, and support the work of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (MCH).
Since 2011, Walk Home has raised more than $180,000. Walk Home funds help support MCH’s A Bed for Every Child initiative, along with programs that provide children with winter coats, hats and mittens along with new beds and bedding, and help transition hundreds of families from homelessness to housing. Walk Home funds have helped 800 children growing up in poverty to have a bed of their own.
Walk Home 2018 raised $21,000, which was donated to the Coalition. A donation of $2,500 was given from those funds to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, which is one of RTN’s select employer groups.
“Walk Home is our annual fundraising event that brings together our members and staff, community residents, business sponsors, local and state dignitaries and elected officials to work towards a common goal of helping homeless teens and families,” says Nicole James, RTN’s Senior Vice President, Retail Services.
“We are continually grateful for RTN’s commitment through Walk Home to help us make a difference in the lives of families and children experiencing homelessness, and particularly the support for our Bed for Every Child Program,” says Robyn Frost, MCH Executive Director.
