First Financial sponsors Carroll County Math 24 Tournament

Always looking to uplift students and education in its communities, First Financial Federal Credit Union has partnered again with Carroll County Public Schools to sponsor their Math 24 Tournament. For the third year in a row, the Credit Union proudly contributed a $1,400 sponsorship to the event which provides opportunities and resources that allow students and parents to strengthen their math skills, while having fun.

Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades from schools across Carroll County competed in the Math 24 Tournament on May 16 at Friendship Valley Elementary. The tournament challenged students to make the number 24 from four given numbers, using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, with each number only used once. The top four teams to master the challenge, which became more complex as the tournament progressed, earned medals for their efforts.

“At First Financial, the focus of our community outreach is education,” said Andrea Rapp, First Financial Relationship Manager. “The Math 24 Tournament is really a fun and entertaining way to inspire the students to practice their math skills, and help them gain confidence in school. We’re thrilled to be a part of this rewarding event!”
