Elisha González, vice president of community relations and government affairs at FAIRWINDS Credit Union, has been named executive director of the FAIRWINDS Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping individuals achieve a path toward financial responsibility, security and freedom, and inspiring them to transform the lives of others by living generously.
As executive director of the foundation, González will lead the Foundation’s efforts to bolster organizations that advocate financial literacy, as well as advocate volunteerism by regularly working with FAIRWINDS crewmembers in community outreach. In addition to overseeing the FAIRWINDS Foundation, González will continue to advance the credit union’s community relations and government affairs efforts.
Since its founding in 2017, the FAIRWINDS Foundation has partnered with Junior Achievement of Central Florida to serve as the exclusive banking sponsor of JA Finance Park Virtual, a virtual simulation exercise for high school seniors in economics classes. Additionally, the Foundation supports the University of Central Florida’s Cent$ible Knight$ financial literacy program, which provides students with information and resources that enhance their financial knowledge and equip them to make sound financial decisions.
“When individuals and families have the information and tools needed to secure and improve their financial health, they’re not just able to meet their own immediate needs – they’re empowered to live generously and truly transform the communities in which they live,” González said. “By working with the institutions that provide this kind of training, we’re able to maximize our impact and improve our community’s economic well-being on a broader scale.”
González, who joined the FAIRWINDS team in early 2019, has extensive background spanning more than two decades, with responsibilities ranging from educational management and philanthropy to constituent outreach and issues management.
